THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING THIS EVENT!

HINMAN was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all friends and family, as well as the water polo and swimming disciplines. He has had an impact on so many lives throughout his lifetime, both in an out of the water, across multiple generations.
A great storyteller, gentleman, scholar, coach and educator, his sometimes humorous and satirical nature further enhanced his ability to reach so many diverse individuals throughout the years.
Once when asked, "Why do people call you "HINMAN", (including his wife and family!) isn't that confusing?, he would answer. "No confusion; they call Superman, just Superman, right?"!
I guess when you are truly one of a kind, one only needs a single name! He will truly be missed. NJB
This annual event will be held in his honor with net proceeds to go towards projects in accordance with aquatics programs at Irvine HS including water polo infrastructure.

Added in 2023, this event will also benefit the family of Francisco "Paco" Gonzalez, who passed away January 2, 2023. Paco attended Saddleback High School, played four years of varsity water polo, and swam. During his high school career, Paco scored 300+ goals. His water polo experience started at Irvine Kahuna Water Polo Club 14u, 16u, 18u through masters. After high school, Paco attended Goldenwest College and won a state championship with an undefeated season. Following Goldenwest, Paco played a year at La Verne University where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Educational Studies. Paco had been coaching since 2010 starting with 10/12u at Kahuna while playing on Kahuna’s 18u team. During early years of Goldenwest College attendance, Paco coached at SOCAL WPC and HB WPC. In 2017 Paco returned home to Kahuna and resumed coaching. He was very familiar with the Kahuna skillset training regimen and system of play. Paco has also provided private training from intro to advance level skills and continued through Covid with remote training. After Covid, Irvine Kahuna and Northwood club training combined to be North Irvine. Paco’s coaching philosophy was to develop his young athletes not only in the water, but also as young individuals. He was a strong believer in “student athletes” putting academics first. They must excel in the classroom before doing so in the water. Every day was a fresh day and the players continued to develop and improve as they commit to their training. Paco’s primary goal for each player was that they attain their goals whether it’s learning to egg beat or making it onto a college team. This could all be achieved with hard work and perseverance. He is truly missed by anyone who knew him.
